Is Josh Hamilton a true American Hero?

Kinda, He proved that no matter what wrong with you or how serious your problem is you can always succeed in what following your dream. Is Josh Hamilton a true American Hero?
No he's not a hero.

He put himself into that dangerous situation and he was the one who did drugs and alcohol. I think he's inspirational for overcoming something that seems so impossible to many addicts. It shows a lot of people that it can be done

more so feel good story than american heroIs Josh Hamilton a true American Hero?
My God, this has officially went overboard. American Hero? Is that a joke? Hamilton has become this group's Jonas Brothers. I've never seen so many ridiculous posts and this one takes the cake.

Yeah, the guy was a screw up and cleaned himself up. But American Hero. Just absurd, completely absurd.
I don't know if ';hero'; is the best word...but I do think it's a feel good story.

It's kind of inspirational and it sends a good message. Drugs can destroy your life, but if you make an effort to get clean, you can accomplish a lot. That's just what Hamilton did, and I think it's very admirable.
He is not a hero. He has a nice story, but he is not a hero. I have a bobble-head of him. They gave them out when I went to a AAA Durham Bulls game when I was a little younger. I think one day, he has the potential to be a big baseball star.
No. Josh is a feel good story but not a hero. He got a second chance (well actually more than one) and he has made good of it. Now let see if he can handle the success. If he handles the success well, then I hope that he has put his past behind him and he moves on with even more success.
Of course he is, they talk about the american dream being people moving here and being successful. I think its growing up here, struggling, and getting back on your feet. That is an american hero, and a great role-model.
Yep. I bet he would hit exactly 28 dingers in the first round in the homerun derby and that is exactly what happened. As a result I won a trip to Tahiti. Yahoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! So he is a true American hero.
not a hero

but more someone you respect and players can look up to him

it's one of those stories that make you feel good

he's overcome a lot and that one it's own is amazing
There can be different kinds of Hero's

He is a True hero to some kids who are still struggling to come out of drug addiction..

so yes he is hero and ideal to some and to others he is good life story!!
I think he is a great baseball player.... but not a hero!!!! His story is really inspiring.... about going from a cocaine addict to an amazing baseball player though(: GO JOSH HAMILTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP THE HOMERUNS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hes a baseball player, and a darn good one this year

i hope it doesnt take years of drug and alcohol abuse followed by continuous rehab stints before getting clean to make someone an american hero
At least for one day. Fans have short memories and they will forget the 28 homeruns in round one as soon as Hamilton strikes out with the bases loaded and the Rangers lose the game.
Not really there are lots of stories out there of guys coming off of drugs and alchool--like theres that one guy who almost died and then ran a marathon he was on sports center for 1 day--they refered to him as iron man
nope... not even close.

he passed that up when he got addicted to stupid drugs and had to get brainwashed to quit em...

but he is a heck of a ball player...

Jon Lester is a true American hero.
No, he's a very talented athlete who is reclaiming his life and trying to be a role model for those who are facing the same issues he's dealt with.
i wouldnt say hero, but he sure did put up a great show last night and he has come a long way from quiting drugs and becoming an awesome baseball player that can tatoo a ball like crazy
HR derbies do not tell how good of a real HR hitter you are since they're just jacking down-the-middle fastballs out of the park.
I think he is the most inspirational story in baseball over the last 25 years.
Hero? No. Inspiration? Yes!
No, a Baseball player.

That would be pushing it quite a bit. I'm just happy for the guy and his family he got his life back on track again.
if he would have just laid off the heroin in the first place he wouldn't be in this position now would he?
Baseball players no matter how good they are, are not heroes . although his story is great
No, he's a baseball player.
I have never heard of him
hes my hero

thats for sure.
