Luna is one of my favorite characters so its quite impossible to imagine the horror. She's just so 'out there' and very enjoyable to read. I wish J. K. Rowling had introduced her earlier and developed the character throughout the series.
However, if she were to die, then it would have to be in a weird but heroic way - since Luna is the epitome of weird! It only seems right to say our farewell in such a way.
Hmm...I think she could finally find the Crumple-Horned Snorkack and be impaled by it. Or she could eat poisoned freshwater plimpies.
I know everyone else is going to say she'd die in some heroic way, but these are truly Luna ways to go.
I always thought Luna and Harry were cute together, although I love Ginny and Harry as a couple. I guess, that said, that if she had to go I would want her to die protecting Harry.

My true heroes: my husband for being in the military at such a tough time. My mother for battling breast cancer and for keeping her spirit. My father for teaching today's inner city youth and believing in them, doing for them what no teacher did for him. My dog for helping me walk and supporting me whenever I get a dizzy spell from my radiation. The list can go on and on..God places these people in the world so that we can experience his love in all forms. Very cool, huh? :)
Personally, I don't believe in ';god';. I am spiritual put I will choose what I believe in, not what someone else created.
And I do not look up to celebrities, since there is a fine line between being a genius and being crazy.
I look up to one of my older friends who helped me out a lot in life, getting me to do things like lift weights and coach basketball with him. Whenever I needed something, he would help me.
My hero is anyone who would drop everything in life to help me. I hope I can be that way one day.
For me, it would have to be my older sister. She has saved me from a life of destruction, got me a job and is there for me when i need her. She saved me from committing suicide years ago, and she's motivated me and stood right by me when i would have given up on myself. Thanks to her, i graduated from Adult Ed and am now going to college. So that would be my true hero, Thanks Juanita! I love you, Sis!
My grandmother. She moved to a foreign country, she didn't speak the language, only to pursue her dream, get into university.
My 20 y/o daughter....she makes me feel like I'm a cool mom...:)

But if it had to be a famous person or something like that, I adore Steven Tyler. He's never afraid to be original or say whatever he wants. He enjoys life to the fullest and always has a 100 wat smile on his face. Plus, he can wear all these crazy fashions that nobody else would dare walk around with, and still look sexy and loveable. People never seem to feel awkward around him because he's completely easy-going and never has trouble making them laugh and smile.
He's also sort of a sage in a way, because he has so much wisdom about life and the obstacles that pop up in it.
Steven's also a wonderful, inspirational writer. His songs have so much power.

I don't know if they really existed, but I think it's those musicians that kept playing as the ship was sinking. They lent a moment of grace to others in the midst of a catastrophic event.

Out of all the drivers in F1, with the exception of Barrichello, Jenson deserves this the most. All of the years he spent with honda at the back of the grid fighting over 14th place etc and the fact it looked like he wasn't even going to be in a job this season. I always knew that he had it in him to win a world championship given the right car, and he has proven it with a true world champions drive. Glenn has never won the Bathurst 1000, he has started from pole position in 1994 and 1996, and finished second three times. He came close to winning the race in 1995 but his engine failed 9 laps from the finish.

Out of all the drivers in F1, with the exception of Barrichello, Jenson deserves this the most. All of the years he spent with honda at the back of the grid fighting over 14th place etc and the fact it looked like he wasn't even going to be in a job this season. I always knew that he had it in him to win a world championship given the right car, and he has proven it with a true world champions drive. For all the people that doubted him, its here for you all to see.

I am glad Jenson won just so a few smiles can be wiped from the arrogant holier than thou F1 experts( LOL ) faces. They can shove the '; anyone but Jenson'; attitude right up their own backsides. Rubens I think is the international version of Glenn Seton.
Glenn has never won the Bathurst 1000, he has started from pole position in 1994 and 1996, and finished second three times. He came close to winning the race in 1995 but his engine failed 9 laps from the finish.

We have come to a concensus that without Sam's neverending loyalty towards Frodo and his determination to get his master to Mount Doom to destroy the ring, they would have failed. I think Sean Astin was excellent as Sam and I have read the book since the movie and see him in my mind's eye and I feel that he has been brought to life.

Its the united nature of our hero's coupled with their diffuse situations that show how heros start and triumph with their failings as well as their strengths.

I think that LOTR demonstrates that, in situations, there are a number of heroes that ALL are crucial at different times.
If you look at the story there are LOTS of different situations where the quest would have failed, if not for different (people).

- Eowyn killing the Witchking.
- Boromir giving up his life to save Frodo.
- Gollum taking the ring at the end %26amp; falling into mount doom when frodo could not.
- Aragorn convincing the King of the Dead to help (among other situations)
- Gandalf (where do I start !)

Well, I think that anyone that serves is a hero. I don't want to get into the motivation of someone like Kerry who wanted to be like JFK or McCain who's dad was an admiral.
I guess what I don't get about McCain is what is exceptional about getting a multi-million dollar plane destroyed, being seriously injured in the crash, getting captured, tortured and forced to participate in propaganda.
What really distrubs me is his grand standing on the torturing of prisoners issues. It is clear from his experience he understands that our enemies have no concern for the Geneva conventions or have no inhibition about performing torture for no purpose other than their own amusement. Roughly eight years and a couple months ago. I'll always know Dubya as one of the greatest foreign policy presidents to ever exist. His economic policies weren't bad at all either. But I didn't approve how he gave in to the Demmies the final couple years of his presidency. He's probably one of the most unlucky presidents to ever exist as well. And, if not handled properly, this can actually destroy us in the long run. Someone that would risk their life to help another human being. Its the most unselfish act. Example: soldiers, people that give someone else one of their organs even if its dangerous, firefighters, policemen, a mother about to give birth knowing she might die from it, that man that jumped on the guy having a seizure that fell down into the subway tracks(to protect him)- even as his young kids were watching... there are SOOO many!! The characteristics are in the eyes of the observer. A person doing something in battle is far different than a person saving someone from a burning car. If you ask them, they are not heros, they just did what they felt they had to. It is the observer that makes them heros.
Someone that would risk their life to help another human being. Its the most unselfish act. Example: soldiers, people that give someone else one of their organs even if its dangerous, firefighters, policemen, a mother about to give birth knowing she might die from it, that man that jumped on the guy having a seizure that fell down into the subway tracks(to protect him)- even as his young kids were watching... there are SOOO many!! There are everyday heroes everywhere.

I am not sure hero's can have certain characteristics. They come with many. I think one thing that all heros have in common is the characteristic of giving selflessly. They act out of the goodness of the what they are doing and not what they are getting out of it. I guess you could call that courage too. It is really a beautiful thing. I think being a hero is not planned either. It something someone or something (many animals have been heros too) just does when something happens to someone. Hope I helped a little bit.
