Luna Lovegood, true hero!?

If Luna had to die in book seven, how would you make her go?

I would like her to see a death eater torturing Ginny, so she aims a curse at that death eater but one sends a killing curse to her chest?

Make your own!Luna Lovegood, true hero!?
Well, I am glad that Luna survived but if she had died I think it would have been protecting her father.Luna Lovegood, true hero!?
Luna is one of my favorite characters so its quite impossible to imagine the horror. She's just so 'out there' and very enjoyable to read. I wish J. K. Rowling had introduced her earlier and developed the character throughout the series.

However, if she were to die, then it would have to be in a weird but heroic way - since Luna is the epitome of weird! It only seems right to say our farewell in such a way.
Hmm...I think she could finally find the Crumple-Horned Snorkack and be impaled by it. Or she could eat poisoned freshwater plimpies.

I know everyone else is going to say she'd die in some heroic way, but these are truly Luna ways to go.
I always thought Luna and Harry were cute together, although I love Ginny and Harry as a couple. I guess, that said, that if she had to go I would want her to die protecting Harry.
NO!

She can't die !

That'd be like... beyond depressing and life ruining T_T

But if I had to choose, I'd say she died protecting someone's secret, because she's just so loyal :)
But I think Rowling could write a better one for her:

Being killed when destroying one of the Horcruxs!!!
making an unbrakable vow to...mmm...i dunno...protect....SOMEONE. i dunno. but then they died, so she died too.

no of course not, after he purspely insulted zidane during the last minutes of the world cup final, to provoking him to get zidane expeled.
    Who is Materazzi anyway?
    no i dont think so
    OoOoOohhhh..Materazzi is a real hero...love u materazzi!!..
materazzi kicked french asses, it seems.
I think that the king of great Italy would be either Francesco Totti or Gianluigi Buffon..Materazzi is never a king..
materazzi is cheater stupid...and he is the loser of ';great';italy
He's no hero but he's definitely underrated.
no he isn't..the true hero are Paolo Maldini, Fabio Cannavarro, and Gianluigi Buffon...
    not really no haha
Materazzi is a good soccer player and he's not a lion nor a true hero!! He's also not the king of great Italy. the kings of Italy are Fabio cannavaro and Gianluigi Buffon!!! They are the best and truly and seriously real heros.
Why does he have to be either the hero or the villain ?

He scored the goal in the WC's final but that doesn't make him a hero . That makes him a good footballer.

And this is my opinion ...
...mmmm i know Raterazzi a foul mouthed bully. What do you think? Am i far off or did i hit the bulls eye?

    ...you forgot that...right

...i would not want a foul mouthed bully who picks on others as a hero or a king
Materazzi is no hero, he's just a good soccer player..true hero's are Gigi Buffon and Fabio Cannavaro!
no, he's only a good player
He plays with alot of heart, alot of energy, alot of aggression and alot of words.
    No way

PLATINI is only a hero of Italy

    What's a true hero!?

can you give me an easy composition :what's a true hero in your mind ? and what qualities should a hero have ??

    thx!!!What's a true hero!?
A hero should have a positive impact on society, or even on just one person. Courage and honesty are important, and the ability to actually do something about a problem is also necessary. A hero does not do things for selfish motives. Think about the fire fighters and the police officers who rushed into the World Trade Center on 9/11. They went in there to help; they would gain nothing, and many lost their lives. They were brave, and they had the ability to actually do something--and they were willing to use that ability at great risk to themselves. What's a true hero!?
A true hero is someone you look up to, want to be like, they are smart, brave strong, they are people that save you in a way. I know in cartoons they fly and have powers, but my mom is my hero and she is there to talk when I need help, understands what I need, and a hero is someone who is there for you. So there you go, that's my type of hero.

Should Hamass be regarded as True Heroes of Palestinians?

For they help build Palestine and made them progressive. They also help in the economy by making construction to be a boom!Should Hamass be regarded as True Heroes of Palestinians?
At least they have the courage to fight those who occupy their country.

Love and blessings DonShould Hamass be regarded as True Heroes of Palestinians?
They have helped in some way, but they had to know that by launching missiles into Israel, they were putting the Palestinian people in danger. It appears that they are putting their own agenda ahead of the people who they were elected to serve.

    To borrow a phrase from Reverend Wright, ';Their chickens are coming home to roost.';
You're joking, right? Hamas are cowards who hide behind innocent civilians, fire rockets at other innocent civilians, and exist for one reason: the destruction of others.

    How could any of that translate as ';hero?';
    Construction for buildings, rockets, caskets...
Did you say ';boom'; instead of ';boon'; on purpose?

If not, it still works beautifully.
No, they are a throw back to the idea that might makes right.
    I hope you are kidding.
by making destruction a boom is more like it.
    sure

In your opinion what is a true hero........?

A person that does what ever he or she can, doesn't need to save the world from alians or world hunger, but could do little things like volenteer, feed the homeless, help and old lady cross the street, and so on.

Some one who does good from their heart and does not look for any kind of recognition, just a simple thanks. In your opinion what is a true hero........?
who fights the bad guysIn your opinion what is a true hero........?
Someone who helps others in their time of need and someone who others can look up to =)
I believe that a true hero is anything/anyone that rises against conformity for a greater good.

Anything/one who can follow what is ';right'; and lead others on to do the same.

That is what I think of as a hero.
    my dad
    my mom.

Who is the true hero is it ROCKMAN or MEGAMAN?

Megaman and Rockman are the same person. The character was called Rockman when it was created in Japan. Then the video games were released here in the 80s, the name was changed to Megaman. Over the years they never bothered going back to the original Rockman name as Megaman became a huge hit for the NES and gained a huge following.

These days Megaman is a video game icon as pretty much everyone grew up on the games and it would be stupid to go back to the original Rockman name so the English name remains.Who is the true hero is it ROCKMAN or MEGAMAN?
Rockman and Megaman is the same guy. Rockman's just the name that's overseas; Megaman's his name here in the United States.Who is the true hero is it ROCKMAN or MEGAMAN?
    Megaman!
    MEGAMAN ALL THE WAY!!!
never heard of rock man but i'll go with megaman
Mega Man X can eat Rock Man for breakfast
    MegaMan!
    Zero, his more physical.
Rock man is the name he has in japan and almost every where esle in the world. Megaman is what he's well known as in north America as ice man said.
    MEGAMAN
Well they are the exact same character. In Japan his name is Rockman, in the States his name is Megaman. Simple as that.
rockman and megaman are the same person so both are true heroes

My true heroes: my husband for being in the military at such a tough time. My mother for battling breast cancer and for keeping her spirit. My father for teaching today's inner city youth and believing in them, doing for them what no teacher did for him. My dog for helping me walk and supporting me whenever I get a dizzy spell from my radiation. The list can go on and on..God places these people in the world so that we can experience his love in all forms. Very cool, huh? :)
Personally, I don't believe in ';god';. I am spiritual put I will choose what I believe in, not what someone else created.

And I do not look up to celebrities, since there is a fine line between being a genius and being crazy.

I look up to one of my older friends who helped me out a lot in life, getting me to do things like lift weights and coach basketball with him. Whenever I needed something, he would help me.

My hero is anyone who would drop everything in life to help me. I hope I can be that way one day.
For me, it would have to be my older sister. She has saved me from a life of destruction, got me a job and is there for me when i need her. She saved me from committing suicide years ago, and she's motivated me and stood right by me when i would have given up on myself. Thanks to her, i graduated from Adult Ed and am now going to college. So that would be my true hero, Thanks Juanita! I love you, Sis!
My grandmother. She moved to a foreign country, she didn't speak the language, only to pursue her dream, get into university.
    My 20 y/o daughter....she makes me feel like I'm a cool mom...:)
Truthfully God is the only one in life that has saved me many times from personal experience through faith and been there for me.

Some people don't have heroes in their life but God.

Since you are determined to exclude God as an option, the answer you want, true Christians can not give.

My answer is that I have NO heroes in life excluding God.
My Brothers(2 of them 17 and 11 months)

    My sisters (12 and 20)

    and my parents

    and step parents

    and my bestfriend
Don McLean... the song writer who wrote American Pie.
My husband and Father, two very great men who put their family first, even at personal risk to themselves.
    My Mom.

She trys hard at everything even if she hates what she is doing.
It would have to be my wife...

I think she's the only person on the planet who can live with me, take care of me and still be friendly to me.

    I love her.

    g-day!
    Che Guvera
Mom's my hero for almost everything she ever does. I won't walk out of the store with new clothes until I,m absolutely sure she likes them, because she has the best taste. But if it had to be a famous person or something like that, I adore Steven Tyler. He's never afraid to be original or say whatever he wants. He enjoys life to the fullest and always has a 100 wat smile on his face. Plus, he can wear all these crazy fashions that nobody else would dare walk around with, and still look sexy and loveable. People never seem to feel awkward around him because he's completely easy-going and never has trouble making them laugh and smile.

He's also sort of a sage in a way, because he has so much wisdom about life and the obstacles that pop up in it.

Steven's also a wonderful, inspirational writer. His songs have so much power.
Mother Teresa for her selfless devotion to the poor and downtrodden

    What makes a true hero?

Someone who is willing to go that extra mile to help someone.

Someone who risks their own life to save someone else.

Someone who sticks up for you or befriends you when no one else will.

Someone who sacrifices their own wants and need to take care of the wants and needs of someone else.

Someone who is loyal to their country, their family or their principles when those are attacked or compromised in some way.

Someone who keeps on keeping on against great odds or tremendous pressure.

Someone who is unwilling to compromise their beliefs even if they lose their life for what they believe.

Someone who encourages and believes in you and builds you up no matter what.

Someone who goes against the popular beliefs of the world in favor of their own beliefs...even if what they believe is not popular.

Someone who overcomes a great obstacle in life...like devastating illness or having been a victim of natural disaster and is able to pick themselves up and start all over again.

Someone who overcomes having been abused as a child or battered as an adult and they turn that around and use it for good in some way to help other people who have been through the same type of thing.

Someone who faces grave danger on a regular basis in their career...like firemen or policemen.

Surgeons and doctors who keep on practicing medicine and helping people despite the risk of being sued for malpractice.

Someone who faces a harsh truth about themselves and does something to turn their life around...like addicts who go into recovery or alcoholics who face their alcoholism and seek recovery.

Someone who lives with chronic serious illness and maintains a good attitude.

Someone who faces all the uncertainties and problems of aging and stays strong and takes care of themselves and keeps on being useful and vital and positive in life.

    Single parents.

Someone who is lonely and tries to fill their life up with things to do to help other people.

Someone who helps people to die with dignity...like Hospice care people.

So....life is full of heros...most of them unsung and unappreciated....we need to notice them more and give them comfort and encouragement. What makes a true hero?
A hero would preform an act which goes beyond what is normally excepted of that person. Such as running in a burning building to save someone. What makes a true hero?
The title is achieved when you do something that everyone in your social circle (from country to family and friends) will be proud of.
To be a true hero involves self-sacrifice to help other people without worrying about whether you will be repaid financially or even recognition for your good deeds. Sometimes, it could be something like taking a homeless person into your home when it's freezing cold outside, so s/he doesn't freeze. It could be helping kids or somebody else, who are in trouble. Then, it could even be risking your own life to save the life of someone else.

There are plenty of stories of true hero's out there. Unfortunately, they get over shadowed by all the bad news that the news stations are reporting. It seems they feel people are more interested in hearing about the bad news than the good news, so they don't give the good news very much air time when they do report it.

Recently, I heard about a guy who risked his life to pull a driver out of his car. The man in the car had family with kids and so did the man who saved him.

Then, there was the Navy Seal, who recently sacrificed his own life to save the lives of his team mates, when he threw himself on a grenade in Iraq.

This was just two examples of true hero's, who simply acted on instinct and risked their own lives to save the lives of others.
    i need that too.
Go to the url below, click Vietnam, look near the bottom of the page and read the awards for ideas
a true hero helps others and does the right thing, even when his/her well-being may be at risk.
    a true hero...

    by helping ppl
A true hero is someone who makes a difference in someone else's life.
The hero is traditionally at least two Italian meats and provolone cheese on a small or half loaf of Maria Kostur with roasted peppers, vinegar, olive oil, and lettuce. It is a pork-based sandwich; popular meat choices include ham, prosciutto, pepperoni, capicola, mortadella and salami.
opportunity, opportunity, opportunity of course it helps to recognize the opportunity and several hero maker type people to witness it, and good publicity. There are millions of unsung heroes every day.
that title is earned when more than one person acknowledges u as their ';hero';. Either by saving their lives physically, mentally, or spiritually.

how are people .......responsible for making or breaking heroes........if possible.........pls....give links too cos i need this for an assignment!!!!Who is a TRUE HERO?
To name an actual hero, is difficult. We all have our own idea of what a hero is , but it is impossible to always be or remain a hero, because a hero is just an ordinary person; who has at sometime in their life, done an extra-ordinary thing.Who is a TRUE HERO?
we are heroes in ur own rights because we make other people's day by answering their questions to the best we can
    pata ne yaar
Anyone who fights for the first amendment is my hero. This includes a lot of creepy people.
I AM .....! well, to my kids anyway.

This is a tough question to answer as some peoples heroes are others villains. Its all relative to your point of view.

Remember, the chronicles of history have always been written by the victorious. This means they are inherently biased.
any fireman is a true hero.
a person helping an old lady fix her car on the middle of an interstate, that is a true hero.

    Is Mcain a true hero?

for dropping napalm bombs on women and kids in Vietnam.....Is Mcain a true hero?
If you mean by volunteering to serve during wartime, supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States, serving honorably within the law, and giving years of his life so that people like you could ask stupid questions without fear of reprisals. YES. Next question, Bozoid. Is Mcain a true hero?
He was only acting under orders!

    Is Obama a true hero?

    He's saving America.Is Obama a true hero?
He's light years ahead of Bush.

Bush neglected intelligence information about an impending attack on the US and went on vacation. Then 9/11 happened.

Obama read the intelligence information and sent out the FBI. Suspects are now in custody.

    Bush let Americans get killed.

    Obama saved lives.

    It's a no brainer.Is Obama a true hero?
He is the President of the United States not a hero with a cape and not the Messiah.

He is however the first President in my life who's life reflects the values of the so called moral majority republican party. I think that is why they hate him so much and of course many because his name is different and his skin color doesn't match theirs.
Your hero yes, i think his alright though far from a hero though. As a Republican im kind of glad deep down McCain did not win,we can not afford invading iran etc etc my fellow Republicans i think it is time we chose a educated candidate not a solider,or a businessman.
Did he get three purple hearts like John Kerry?

Did he get almost completely paralyzed in combat like Bob Dole did while rescuing another soldier, and then regain the use of most of his body other than his right arm?

OK, one of those is a real hero.

Where does Obama stack up in there?
He's only a hero in the sense that he's the first to do something, in this case, the first black man to be President, but, if we look at his policies, he's far from one.
Not in my book. I think Obama is doing a great job but I reserve the term ';hero'; for people who knowingly put their lives in immediate danger to aid others.
You would be funny if the situation were not so sad.

    America died silly.
You're having a wet dream, somone needs to wake you up.

Now this is a person to have as a true Hero!?

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070427/ap_o鈥?/a>

Your opinion? Now this is a person to have as a true Hero!?
Agreed, I think there are many types of hero's and I think people just generalize them so many people who have done something worth while never get acknowledged.

Was this man a true hero?

We were on patrol and got ambushed and our jeep was damaged so we had to go on, I was shot and was in real bad shape while we had enemy closing in on us.

Our CO ordered us to withdraw while he layed down a surpressing fire, he saved my life and alot of others but that was the last I saw of him alive. Do you think this man was what they call a true hero and how can I honnor what he did for me?Was this man a true hero?
Yes he was a hero and you are honouring him every time you tell people about him . Keeping a memory alive is the best way to honour anybody. Was this man a true hero?
What a brave and selfless man, yes, a true hero. He gave his life for others. By the way, thank you too for your service. To honor him, be yourself. Obviously he felt you were worthwhile just as you are. I know you will remember the date, and the place. If he has family, be with them every year at the funeral service. If he doesn't have family, visit his burial site yourself on that date and remember with pride that you served with such an honorable and courageous man.
    hero

    1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

    2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal.

From what you've said, he fits into, well, both of those definitions.

Mark it in any way you wish.

Suggestion: track his relatives and let them know.....
i definitely think he was a hero. i would write his family a letter and let them know what he did. the best way to honor him is to tell his story, tell people what a hero he was.

thank you for protecting our freedom, all the men and women in our armed forces amaze me!

    best wishes
He most certainly was a true hero.He saved lives %26amp; gave his own.Keep telling people about him.He deserves to be honored.
A very brave man indeed. I hope that your senior

officers bring this incident to the attention of the M.O.D. so his name and achievement can be honoured.

  • Who were the true heroes on the Titanic?

Ha, the movie's on and I admit, I'm watching it. Again.

I don't know if they really existed, but I think it's those musicians that kept playing as the ship was sinking. They lent a moment of grace to others in the midst of a catastrophic event.

What do you think?Who were the true heroes on the Titanic?
I say it was anyone that helped people get on the lifeboats safely and then they themselves stayed behind honorably.Who were the true heroes on the Titanic?
It wasn't the musicians. They had great hearts for trying to help the cause, but they really didn't. Nothing could have helped these people overcome the horror they were facing, especially not music. But God bless the guys for trying. The true heroes were the men giving up their time and lives to help the women and children get on the lifeboats. Not only that, but more than half of those men didn't even get a spot on the lifeboats, and they went down with the ship.
The ones who thought about other people before themselves.
It was the people who gave up their spots on the lifeboats so that others could live, like women and children.
(the Unsinkable) Molly Brown was a hero in real life. She kept most of the woman calm until the rescue boat arrived.
    yea the musicians
the ones that tried to save the others
    the guys shoveling coal
i think it was the guy that went back in the lifeboat. almost all the rest of them wouldn't.

    What makes a true hero?

A person who is willing to risk their life for anyone. A person you can talk to and really listens to what you have to say. What makes a true hero?
    determination.What makes a true hero?
someone who you can trust, that is always there when you need them, that can be a good role model, a close friend, the person that puts a smile on your face no matter how bad your day has been for me that person is my husband.
your soul and how you show yourself to others.
the people who go unnoticed who care for their fellow human beings just get on with it don't expect any medals live the good live and help those WHO have and those who haven't the poor the sick the so on and so on ...the unsung hero.s of the world alive and dead
Having no regard for your own safety. Doesn't matter if you save the day or not. If you die trying then you're a hero! How many hero's died recently in iraq, afganistan, 9/11 7/7 or anywhere else the world is f***ed up? Time to realise what these people are and respect them accordingly ( Whether or not you agree with the war) The soldiers do their jobs that's what we pay them for. (Not to mention the Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Nurses Docs etc)
    trust,loyalty and someone whos there 4 u

Who was the last true Western Hero or Outlaw of the West?

Wyatt earp was alive in the 1930s so it was probably him.Who was the last true Western Hero or Outlaw of the West?
    George Bush, take your pick.

Well done Jenson a true British hero?

great race and a worthy champion.Well done Jenson a true British hero?
    A true British Hero?

    Haha!

No, he had no REAL contenders after he was LUCKY enough to get into a good car. Surely if he was a good driver he wouldn't have been left in a dying team for years. Only because the 2008 car was so sh!t did Jenson have a chance this year. And if he was a REAL, WORTHY world champion wouldn't he be being headhunted by Mclaren, Ferrari?

No, he is just lucky. And next year he will be at the back again, where that snivelling little runt of a driver belongs. Great race? bullsh!t. Numerous drivers had much better races than him, and he only had a few overtakes because HE QUALIFIED IN A SH!T PLACE BEHIND A LOAD OF ROOKIES!

And after the race he was cocky, arrogant, and horribly annoying.

Back to this 'True British Hero' bo!!ocks, this IS HIS JOB. HE DOES THIS FOR MONEY. Heros amazing things for free, not what it is possible to do annually.Well done Jenson a true British hero?
Out of all the drivers in F1, with the exception of Barrichello, Jenson deserves this the most. All of the years he spent with honda at the back of the grid fighting over 14th place etc and the fact it looked like he wasn't even going to be in a job this season. I always knew that he had it in him to win a world championship given the right car, and he has proven it with a true world champions drive. For all the people that doubted him, its here for you all to see.

Well done Jenson, you've done Britain proud!! :D
I am glad Jenson won just so a few smiles can be wiped from the arrogant holier than thou F1 experts( LOL ) faces. They can shove the '; anyone but Jenson'; attitude right up their own backsides. HE HAS DONE IT. It will be written in the history books forever in a day. Get use to it. It is a TEAM effort. Only downside is Williams %26amp; the old goat do not look like winning a race this year.

    C,mon Jenson
Yea congrats to him. He might feel like thanking Honda for pulling out because if that hadn't he may not have gotten the championship.

Rubens I think is the international version of Glenn Seton.

Glenn has never won the Bathurst 1000, he has started from pole position in 1994 and 1996, and finished second three times. He came close to winning the race in 1995 but his engine failed 9 laps from the finish.
I feel really sorry for rubens. I mean how many times has he come 2nd in a Championship? he might not get a drive next season as well. Worthy maybe but i wanted it for rubens. true british hero after 1 championship, hes on his way.

    Fkin Great!
Great race nailbiting not had one for a while. Great Team as well as great driver sorry for Rubens too because his was a lot of the set up for the 2 cars.
It was brilliant to see Jenson win ~ I am over the moon for him ~ but it was a really nail biting race ~ I've never seen so much overtaking in F1 ~
hell yeah he did some amazing overtaking to get the job done, he knew what he needed to done.
Button and Brawn have done Britain proud!

Both deserved and worked hard for their championships.
The 10th British F1 World Champ (and driving for a British team)!

    Woo Hoo! Fantastic :-)
yes same sentiments from me c'mon jenson c'mon brawn c'mon the brits are number 1 once again
Yes indeed. First British Champion since 1996.
My heart rate thanks god it wasn't as dramatic last year

    good show old bean!
A true British hero for doing what he was paid to do? Amazing!

Does anyone think that Samwise the Brave is the true hero of LOTR?

My sister and I were talking. We have come to a concensus that without Sam's neverending loyalty towards Frodo and his determination to get his master to Mount Doom to destroy the ring, they would have failed. Afterall Frodo's judgement is severely impared as he becomes more and more influenced by the ring.

Does this therefore make him the true hero of LOTR?Does anyone think that Samwise the Brave is the true hero of LOTR?
No, it's got to be Gandalf.

Samwise is just a sycophantic buffoon.Does anyone think that Samwise the Brave is the true hero of LOTR?
Yep. That was the idea. Without the strength of Mr. Gamgee backin Frodo the whole way, fightin Gollum, killin giant spiders and opening all new levels of whoop-*** on dem orcs, things would not have been rosey for are small adventurers.

    GO SAM!
I've pondered this question before myself, and it's such a tricky subject to tackle! Samwise was indeed one of the main factors of destorying the ring and without him i too don't think frodo could have done it! But would they have been able to destroy the ring without the likes and infuences of Gandalf, Aragon, Legolas and Gimley! - who also played huge roles into frodo and sams sucess in destroying the ring!?... I come to conclude, that they are all true hero's of LOTR together!
    he is the hero.

he not only stands by frodo through every thing and rescues him and caries him and so on but he is also the one that goes back get s the girl and lives happily ever after. true hero antics if you ask me
no, because ';hope';and ';love'; are the true heroes of LOTR as it kept everyone going. Even Gandalf thought there wasn't a lot of hope just a fool's hope.
Yes, it is generally accepted that Samwise is the true hero of the story. The story is about the power of real friendship not the dark power of the Ring. It was Sam's loyalty towards his friends that gave him the power to triumph. He was never interested in the Ring...which even took over Frodo's mind. Sam - the everyman, the commoner - is able to trumph where nobles, wizards, and even kings had failed before.
Sam wasn't looking after Frodo; he was just watchin' his @ss.
Tolkien himself felt that Sam was the true hero of LotRs.
So true. I agree whith what you say. Samwise also saves frodo sp many times, like from the spider thing, from gollum etc
yeah it was sam who succeeded in destroying d ring coz this stupid frodo wanted 2 keep it 4 himself..
Yes, I totally agree with you. Sam is the truest most loyal friend and without him Frodo would never have made it to destroy the ring. Sam is the embodiment of all that is pure in man, true selflessness and a heart that is giving and loving. We should all have a friend like that!! He is the symbol of friendship and he is the ultimate unspoken hero for it his love and friendship that save the day!!

I think Sean Astin was excellent as Sam and I have read the book since the movie and see him in my mind's eye and I feel that he has been brought to life.
he was most definately the hero, frodo just got on my nerves the whole damn time
The beauty of lotr is there is no single hero, its an ensemble with so many differing types of heroism on so many different fronts.

Its the united nature of our hero's coupled with their diffuse situations that show how heros start and triumph with their failings as well as their strengths.

I still love the fact that greed lead to the ring being thrown into mount doom, nothing else, and no motive in those last few moments was anywhere near heroic.
Yes he was. if it wasn't for him to help Frodo on his journeys, the ring would not have destroyed and the Sauron would have succeeded.
I agree that Sam is the true hero of LOTR. His devotion and commitment to stick by Frodo, even when Frodo turns him away, and his belief that the ultimate goal of destroying the ring can be achieved, makes him worthy of true heroism.
I think that LOTR demonstrates that, in situations, there are a number of heroes that ALL are crucial at different times.

If you look at the story there are LOTS of different situations where the quest would have failed, if not for different (people).

    EG

    - Eowyn killing the Witchking.

    - Boromir giving up his life to save Frodo.

    - Gollum taking the ring at the end %26amp; falling into mount doom when frodo could not.

    - Aragorn convincing the King of the Dead to help (among other situations)

    - Gandalf (where do I start !)

The issue is that Sam's main 'moment', happend right at the end where he took Frodo to Mount doom
I would not say the hero...But I think that he is the hero to Frodo. I think that Sam is right up there but remember he had his problems too. Kinda a dependant realtionship with Frodo. They are like one person so to speak.

Who thinks wiL Francis from Aiden is a true hero?

I believe that most people don't give people like wiL enough credit for being a true person. He's not arrogant like most rock stars are like Alex V. from Atreyu. He really cares about his fans.

If you think he sucks, my friend Angel D. will come to your school/work and set your friends on fire!!Who thinks wiL Francis from Aiden is a true hero?
He seems fake...like he's faking being real if that makes any sense. The band is average, but every song is about a nightmare, and some of the lyrics are childish.

Just because you are a true person doesn't make you a hero, and the band is horrible unoriginal.Who thinks wiL Francis from Aiden is a true hero?
Considering the only reasons you listed were about him caring about his fans and not being arrogant, I wouldn't consider him a hero at all. Modern rockers are generally down-to-earth kids who happened to be in the right place at the right time or something ridiculous like that.

  • When did you realize that Bush is true hero to all the world?

    source:

fox newsWhen did you realize that Bush is true hero to all the world?
I had my doubts. Then one day I was in an elevator that was playing FOX News for music.

Something went into my brain and now I know Bush is Lord and Master of all Nations.

Go big Red GoWhen did you realize that Bush is true hero to all the world?
I haven't yet, maybe I am slow. If Fox news said it it must be true, they report......you decide.
When he decided to stop the terrorists.
If those were my thoughts, I would check myself into a mental hospital....pronto! Those would be the delusional thoughts of someone who has really lost it! Like, you know, out to lunch and not expected back soon! Like the people who run Fox News!
Two term President, no domestic terrorist attacks in 5 1/2 years, of course liberals hate him since they hate national secuirity and love socialism...
    He has a low IQ
    When he retaliated against terrorism, after 9/11. He did what the American People asked him to do. ';Declare War on Afghanistan NOW.';
Anyone who thinks that would also think that the Joker and Lex Luthor are heroes as well.
When he took on 911 2 defend us from further attracts. Hope we don't get a wimp in office 2 protect us in 2008.If Libs get in were on our own.
    when hell froze over.
When he took his stand on Terrorism.... and ever since.

Strong Decisive President. We need another George Bush in 2008.

If he commited the crimes that a poster claims, you can bet your butt, the Libs would have begun impeachment....they haven't....No Crimes !!!
Mr. Bush is not a true hero to the world and he would readily admit to this. Get off the poor man's back!!!!!!!!
what the hell? he isn't a complete f*kin idiot, but he definately is not a hero

Who do you consider to be true heroes?

The term ';hero'; is thrown around indiscriminately these days. Who deserves it and why?Who do you consider to be true heroes?
my mommy :)Who do you consider to be true heroes?
Firemen, policemen, EMS workers, doctors, nurses, etc.
The word hero is use too often and inappropriately. Heroes are those who put their well being and life on the line to protect us, sometimes from ourselves. They include but are not limited to Police officers, Firefighters, and our brave men and women of the armed forces.

Why do Husseiniacs hate a true War Hero like McCain, but love a sniveling coward traitor like Hanoi John Kerry?

Because they are evil. They hate what is good and worship what is evil.

Weep for our country. It's doomed with a Marxist like Hussein.

Who is Carol McCain and why is she a true first lady and American hero?

in my book...Who is Carol McCain and why is she a true first lady and American hero?
Stirring. You realize that was his first wife, right? The one he left for his booze-dealing mistress?Who is Carol McCain and why is she a true first lady and American hero?
Yes it is sad. He cheated on Carol for an entire year before divorcing her...he married less than a month after his divorce...to a wealthy and well connected new women, Cindy ';Mars Attacks'; McCain.
It has nothing to do with the ISSUES, Chi. Nothing at all. You'd be the first guy to defend President Clinton against similar attacks and now here you are dealing them out in the same fashion. Isn't this the same old, tired, nonsense that the majority of us have gotten sick of?
Despite the lies propagated by the N.Y. Times and George Soros, McCain is the only choice left in a field that is pathetic and liberal. Unless you want to vote for Nader, which is a good idea if you are a liberal. Yeah, vote Nader please!!!
I can't understand how John W. McCain could leave that poor crippled woman and commit adultery with Cindy Lou Who.

KELLY P - LOL! Mars Attacks! I can see that.
Chi,After John came back after Vietnam he and his wife were is major therapy for 6 years. The divorce was decided by both of them as they both had changed and become different people. They were both good people that just couldn't make it after what happened to the both of them.Cain was very generous to her giving her about everything he had plus taking care of her future and the childrens future.Do i approve ? No i do not but 20 years is a long time and what happened is between the two of them now. (Hugs)
you should probably delete this question. McCain isn't married to her anymore. He's been married to CINDY MCCAIN for the last 20 years. CINDY, however, would make a find first lady. She's intelligent, compassionate, beautiful, classy and she and John adopted two children together.

    Vote for McCain!!!!
Carol McCane and John McCane are nobody. McCane is a joke of the year. VOTE OBAMA!!!

Is it true that Guitar hero is making a metallica version?

Well, I'm assuming that it's true because Metallica metioned it on their MySpace AND their actual website, so my logic is, why bother with it if it's not true? And if it wasn't true, they probably would have said no, if they even chose to mention it.Is it true that Guitar hero is making a metallica version?
    Ya,I too heard.

Martin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?

way overdoneMartin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?
I would say he is a hero.Martin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?
No doubt about it, Martin Luther King was a true hero for everyone, no matter what their race
YOUR REALLY ASKING THIS QUESTION???TRUE HERO DUH!!!!! HOW COULD HE NOT BE????HE STOPPED RACISM YOU DONT THINK THAT CALLS FOR THE TITLE 'TRUE HERO'?????STUPID!!!......
    Definitely A True Hero.

    He Was African-American, Not Hindu
Hero. He wasn't perfect. He was just a man, but few men have motivated and moved people more than he did.
As true a hero America has.
He was a true hero, but seems to be guided towards sacred cow status.

we have to see the entire man, warts and all
I think even a hard core racist would agree... HERO
    Hero
    true hero
What kind of question is this?

Martin Luther King was and still is a true American hero.

It's amazing what our definition of ';hero'; has changed to today - just look in the tabloids, and you'll find your answer...

    Plain and simple.
He worked for good, but there needs to be more books and stories come out about his behind the scenes life during that time period of his fame... oh wait, can't tell the truth about that or the liberal media and ';african-american'; society will have a coniption fit.
    TRUE HERO
I have a personal respect for Dr. King and he would not have regarded himself as a hero at all. Dr. King was not about ego, racial divison or superior rights; he was not about go out and get what you want no matter who you have to kill to do it. Dr. King was about fairness, rights as they relate to every American, healing the divison, and NOT to judge a man by the COLOR of his skin but the content of his CHARACTER. Which is precisely why I will NOT vote for Obama. I am studying his Character and I don't like what I see. As an honorable African-American man, Dr. Martin Luther King would have made a great president. He kept no secrets and proudly showed the nation who he was. He would definitely have had my vote. Now Obama - he is a black-man sell out...the very opposite of what Dr. King believed.
    He is a hero.

He helped people who thought they couldn't get out.
i'd say hero, but we still need to work with the strong racism in this country! yes... all those rednecks!!
True hero to me, he saw a wrong and tried to correct without resorting to violence. He had great courage, strong convictions and he showed the world how one man could make a difference.
Hero. He was a great man.
true hero, quite possibly an unknown saint on loan from god. he placed his life on the line for others, he knew he was a target and his life was in danger. you can hear him say it in his speech he knew he would die soon and yet he continued his calling to fight for freedom and equality. think about it , dosen't he remind you of another person in the bible, some one who said '; let my people go'; mosses? taking the slaves out of egypt. king walked and he spoke and he continued to cause change. and whenever you have someone like him, jesus, mosses, the pope you name it doing gods work, there will always be people hating him. because while he is doing gods work there is always the someone out there ready and willing to do the devils work as well.
    hero

    hero

    hero
    Both.
    true hero.

    wtf, he wasn't hindu?
I trueky want to know why you feel he could possibly be a scared crow. I think I know the only people that wouldn't say he was a hero but since you asked the question, I want to see if you're one of them. Just asking :)
    He is definitely a hero
MLK became the voice for the conscience of America. That makes him a hero in my book.

He not only helped bring a judicial and political end to legalized oppression of Americans, he also lifted the veil of shame that covered the nation due to those hate-based laws.

People haven't considered that the only reason the term ';African American'; exists is due to the ';whites only'; laws that created the difference between two ethnic groups in America. Blacks just wanted to be ';Americans'; but the laws of the land said otherwise and made the distinction.
MLK was more militant before his death than people like to believe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. His leadership could have helped civil rights so that we didn't go through all the race riots of the 70s and 80s.
True Hero. He Stood Up Against Racism. How Can He Be A Scared Cow?
    TRUE HERO U RETARD!!!
We cannot change the fact that he brought abit huge changes in America and the world. Although we cannot say what it might be like without him, but we can safely conclude that with MLK, universal suffrage was achieved to a large extent. The system still can be improved, but it is definitely way better than the slavery people were subject to because of their skin colour.

Maybe our respect for him can be overdone. But don't we all to many leaders worldwide? Why do we pay so much homage to Lincoln, Socrates, Wilson etc etc. Are they too sacred cows or real leaders with real mistakes BUT real achievements for people?

Even a sacred cow is fervently respected for a real reason. Their contributions in the fields, or their link to a god (depending on which religion).

  • Is John McCain a true war hero - and why or why not?

any man that suffered and sacrificed like he did is a HERO in any book..

edit: if you don't like the answers quit asking the fuching questionsIs John McCain a true war hero - and why or why not?
Well, I think that anyone that serves is a hero. I don't want to get into the motivation of someone like Kerry who wanted to be like JFK or McCain who's dad was an admiral.

I guess what I don't get about McCain is what is exceptional about getting a multi-million dollar plane destroyed, being seriously injured in the crash, getting captured, tortured and forced to participate in propaganda.

What really distrubs me is his grand standing on the torturing of prisoners issues. It is clear from his experience he understands that our enemies have no concern for the Geneva conventions or have no inhibition about performing torture for no purpose other than their own amusement. So his stance on torture seems to be self serving and appears to be only a platform for him to remind us he was a prisoner and was tortured. Is John McCain a true war hero - and why or why not?
i'm not voting for him, but fighting in the war makes you a war hero in my book.

going into war is easier said than done. if a parent raises their kid to be everything they can be, then they are to referred to as heroes all the time. if a person goes to war to defend my ideals as well as that of 100 million others, he is a hero. i bet he is doing more than you sitting at your computer trashing people who go out and defend you.

i hate war, and i really hate the iraq war since it is fought for companies like haliburton, but they are putting their most precious possession out there to defend us, their lives.
The only thing I know about him is that he was captured and held captive for several years. I know he was a fighter pilot and saw action so I suppose that qualifies him as a war hero but being a war hero doesn't necessarily mean he would be a good president. It's more than a popularity contest. We are not voting for the best war hero we are voting for the best presidential candidate.
How can you even question this???

    He got the PURPLE HEART.

He was being tortured for a long time and they said that they'd let him go when they found out his dad was an Admiral/General (can't remember which). But, he said that he wasn't going to go unless they let the other US troops go. So, he stayed for like another 3+ years!!!
If I was tortured so severely I now can't raise my arms above my head, held in solitary confinement for several of the five years I was a POW to a communist regime, and fed around 1000 calories a day, would you call me a war hero?
    OF COURSE HE IS

JUST GOOGLE HIM TO SEE THE SACRIFICES HE MADE. PLEASE DON'T BELITTLE HIS SERVICE FOR POLITICAL REASONS. I DON'T LIKE EVERYTHING HE STANDS FOR, BUT I WON'T QUESTION HIS SACRIFICE. LOOK AT HIS PLATFORM, AND USE THAT TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT YOU VOTE FOR HIM!
My grandfather knew Kerry and what does he have to say about him?

Kerry is a pussy who had some lame accuse to leave combat because he got scared.

F U! And Semper Fidelis Marines.
No he sold out. He was considered a war hero because he was tortured. Then he gave Bush the OK to waterboard people. Hypocrites can't be war heroes they can only be pathetic.
McCain has more Hero in his pinkie finger

    then obama could ever have
shame on ya'll for talking trash on mc cain- I honor our troops and our veterns and our fallen heros -- POW / MIA-- Kerry on the other hand should be shot as a traitior!! America home of the free because of the brave!!!
He's a hero to his country,,,,,,,

And a traitor to his party.
Yes, because he went to Vietnam, and suffered as a POW in thier camps.

Who do you think the true hero of Romeo and Juliet is? Explain!?

Romeo would be the tragic hero in Romeo %26amp; Juliet, because he is the main character and is ';of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities'; (from dictionary.com).

His tragic flaw would be that he gets into things without thinking them through first. That's why he headed straight to the crypt right when he heard that Juliet was dead, instead of thinking about the rationality of her death or going to the friar to ask how she died.Who do you think the true hero of Romeo and Juliet is? Explain!?
A hero represents the value of a society. Therefore you can say it is either Romeo (for doing what he has to do for love) or Friar Lawrence (because he helped the couple without expecting anything in return.Who do you think the true hero of Romeo and Juliet is? Explain!?
the priest who gives juliet the drugs...
    The ghost,Think about it.
Escalus. For stopping all that silly fighting in the streets and showing up at the tomb just a tad too late.
there is no hero.. use this and run with it cuz teachers eat this type of stuff up... if you argue that every character that could possibly be seen as a hero is in fact not and use facts from the play/story to back it up, then you will have one........... hellofapaper

Plus, everyone in the story makes some sort of mistake so you can back it up purty easily

When did you realise Bush was true hero?

ROFLMAO, you made me spill coffee on my keyboardWhen did you realise Bush was true hero?
Bush a hero??? Well, I suppose he could be called that if one was to idolize thievery, deceit, lies and corruption at it's finest. My definition of democracy does not contain these attributes, does yours? Understand this: In the history of this country, the ';honorable'; George W. Bush was the single most impeachable leader we have had to date; pretty much tells a story about the American version of democracy and how criminals are able to gain and or retain public offices. Just goes to show how easily it is to purchase a vote: What??! You thought he was voted into office!? No, that did not happen, the true winner of that ';election'; was his opponent. Kind of resembles this supposed ';election'; that was just recently accomplished in Afghanistan, that was a farce too. When did you realise Bush was true hero?
I am still waiting for that realization, somehow I know I will never hear the voice of God assuring me of Bush's status as a ';true hero';. Unlike Bush who heard the voice of God! Dressing up in a flight suit doesn't count.

@Red River, with the assistance of a conservative Supreme Court he stole the presidency, he never won.
the libs always want to present bush as a failure an idiot but their wrong cause:

    1. Bush had morals, he never cheated on his wife, he didn't rape his kids and he went to church on sunday he also didn't use curse words

    2. Bush got Iraq an Afganistan before they could get us an yet noone thanks him ever would they have liked it if we got nuked by Sadom.

    3. Bush beleived in the Bible an not liberal laws, he tried to bring this country back to what our founding fathers wanted -a bible based nation of christian men an woman.

    4. Bush went to Yale an Harvard -did his liberal enemys go their, no they didn't!

    5. Bush is from texas, a real state, not california or new york or gay masachusets -texas where you work hard and keep what you earn!!!!!!

    6. Bush unlike Obama was never using drugs, he only used alcohol.

    7. Bush had values, he loved his family an beleived in god obama an clinton do not.
Roughly eight years and a couple months ago. I'll always know Dubya as one of the greatest foreign policy presidents to ever exist. His economic policies weren't bad at all either. But I didn't approve how he gave in to the Demmies the final couple years of his presidency. He's probably one of the most unlucky presidents to ever exist as well. He will always be blamed for us, the American people, causing the Great Recession here in the US. People just don't realize that the president can't do much to directly effect the economy. People are just too ignorant to know that we are a dominantly free, capitalistic nation. We get ourselves in and out of recessions, with the government having very little to do with it. If anybody is to blame for economic problems, we should blame congress for raising taxes too high. But other than that, we, the people, have dominantly more economic power than our local, state and federal governments. So now, since we've blamed the government so much for our own wrong-doings, the government is trying to fix our problems by taxing us more and spending much more money than they've ever spent before. And, if not handled properly, this can actually destroy us in the long run. We may possibly be the first superpower in the history of mankind to fall because three quarters of our population is semi-retarded, if not full fledged retards. Because they don't even know we're a free people who can spend however much money we want on whatever we want, even if we don't have the money. But NOPE! I guess it's President Bush's fault that a bunch of idiots spent too much money and weren't able to pay their bills to the businesses they owe money to. And it's President Bush's fault that a lot of those businesses have had to close down because the people who them money can't pay them. And it's president Bush's fault that the banks were stupid enough to allow so many morons to borrow so much money in the first place... What's even more sickening to me is that we're getting out of this recession under President Obama's watch. And he's going to get all the credit for getting us out of the recession when he's doing nothing to help the private sector and is doing nothing but allowing congress to pile more and more onto our deficit.
Right after 9/11 when I saw the great poise and leadership he exhibited.

Later, in the face of outrageous criticism from the left how he handled every situation with grace and never lashed out at his critics, but stayed with calm and class and explained it was the American way to criticize the President.
    Never happened; never will.
When liberals attacked him before he even won in 2000 and then even today they cannot shut up about him. Anyone who can make liberals drool in rage as they type is a true hero.
I love how he laughs at the idiots that think they matter, Obama is too serious.
You really have nothing else better to do. Masking yourself to be a retard. But really, there's no mask.
on board a navel ship w/ a ';mission accomplished'; sign in the background
when did you REALIZE you can`t spell REALIZE......LMAO.....
When he got busted for drunk driving. He saved some lives by getting pulled over.
right after i realized that ';realize'; was spelled with a ';Z'; and not an ';S';.
When I saw the total incompetence of Ayatollah Obama.
After 9/11. The poise and dignity he handled the situation was amazing.
In my dreams, about the same time that pigs flew and hell froze over.
When he got a shoe thrown at him. For an old guy he can dodge pretty well.
When we elected Him, and after he kept us safe for 8 years. Thats when.
Are you using someone else avatar?
    When BO became president.
when he traded Sammy Sosa from the Rangers!
I see you still have your Paul Grass DADDY complex. lol
    when he was president
    I didn't.
    ROTFL
    umm...never.
He was and is... to me and my hubby. who cares about anyone else, we know how great he was
As I was learning about Obama!

Who is the true hero in the Iliad??

and whyWho is the true hero in the Iliad??
The main protagonist throughout the story is Odysseus.

Also, the illiad covers more than just the battle for troy, most of it is Odysseus' return home.Who is the true hero in the Iliad??
It really IS Achilles. It's tempting to view Hector as the hero, since he's a much more likable and sympathetic character, but he's the antagonist. Achilles is the epic hero par excellence--strong, brave, nearly invincible, handsome, part divine but mortal himself. His name is mentioned in the first line (and Hector's in the last), and by the end of the Iliad he has become a more thoughtful person with a more internal sense of honor--one might even call it a conscience.
The Iliad is a recounting of the trojan war. There's really no sole hero, as there are many. Achilles is usually a focus in the study of it, though there's also Hector, Ajax, Paris, Odysseus, and quite a few others. The aspect of the true hero depends on your perspective.

Odysseus, in the end, devised the trojan horse and permitted the aechians to defeat the trojans. But Paris fired the arrow that took down Achilles, who was percieved as being undefeatable. Also, it can be said that the true heroism lied witht he gods, as they are attributed for causing these spectacular feats and simply using the men as their tools.
Diomedes. He not only has the courage and fighting ability of a true hero, he is as wise as Nestor, and very respected among the leaders. He also fought against some of the gods in battle, and he even wounded them.

    Is Beowulf a true hero?

If you read this story, do you believe Beowulf is a hero? If so, why? If not, why?Is Beowulf a true hero?
Depending on society. back then, in that society, it was considered heroic to be boisterous and cocky, while now a days he would seem self centered and arrogant. The fact that he saved people from several monsters in any society would be considered heroic, but since this was well before King Arthur's time, the idea that heroes should follow the chivalric code wasn't established, or even thought of yet. The truth is that he killed all of those monsters for personal gain and glory which, today, would put him under the category of ';Anti-Hero';.Is Beowulf a true hero?
I have not read the tale for a long time, but believe that Beowulf is a hero as he went out, against impossible odds, to keep others safe. His exploits were such that he received and impressive burial and was remembered in story for a very long time.

We do the same at this time of year when we remember all those who died in an attempt to protect their family, friends and country. Whether or not the wars were right, useful or did any good is another question.

Who's the True Hero: Kerry heroically taking bullets for USA in Vietnam or some guy snorting coke in Texas?

How can you people insult a man like John Kerry? He goes to an unpopular war( like the one we are in now) and earns countless medals. Returns home to protest the injustices being committed there and become a successful politician. How dare you judge a man when you couldn't spend one day in his shoes. As for Mr. Bush I must respectfully say that all I know is never even went to Vietnam but none of you are condemning him.Who's the True Hero: Kerry heroically taking bullets for USA in Vietnam or some guy snorting coke in Texas?
Kerry is a joke and skate.Who's the True Hero: Kerry heroically taking bullets for USA in Vietnam or some guy snorting coke in Texas?
Though I think the ? is obvious, I can't believe you're still on this subject? I liked Kerry for his deeds %26amp; what he has to show for his work in office, but friend, he lost to Bush... move on %26amp; support Hillary or any other Democrat!
Kerry is a f***ing horse face who would have screwed the U.S!Id say that Bush is the true hero cause he actually did something that is helping america from terrorism unlike Kerry who would have f***ed us and let all those assholes run all over us.My dad served in Vietnam and Im pritty dam sure that he did more over there than that dam ';hero'; of yours ever did.
i don't know if I would call Kerry a hero, none of us who went; fought, died or went missing are heros, however any man who set foot in country has my respect. What GW Bush did to avoid Viet Nam, while questionable is the path many took, I served in the USMC in Viet Nam, I was wounded and decorated, mine was a bait more sever than Mr. Kerry's but not as sever as some of my buddies. As a disabled vet, I supported and voted for Kerry, I had my doubts, but I din't like the way Mr. Bush got elected the first time, nor did I like his father or their policy stances.
the true hero is the guy who screws a young girl while president and then says he didnt
KERRY TAKING BULLETS? YOU MUST BE THE IDIOT SNORTING COKE!!! That guy was the biggest coward and worst opportunits in the whole Viet Nam era. He lied to get his medals, he tucked his tale and fled at the first sign of conflict, he evn lied about tossing his medals. He's lower than whale dung, and that's on the bottom of the ocean.
Wow, looks like you ruffled some feathers with that comment. Until all you chicken-hawks step into that recruitment center and sign up to lay your a__ on the line in any war, you have no opinion against Kerry. Its easy to blah blah blah and flow at the mouth, but when it comes right down to it, most of you complaining about Kerry would run and hide under the bed if there was ever talk of a draft....
Neither one is a hero, their is a long black wall in D.C with the names of hero's on it. Kerry was the only one who spit on their service when he returned from Vietnam, Bush did serve no matter how little you think of that service. He never testified before the Senate committee that the men who died and those in country were raping and murdering in the fashion reminiscent of Ghingas Khan.
Kerry was a reporter in Vietnam, silly.

The true Hero is George Bush for fightin this evil war on terrorism.
Kerry a hero? Consider this, he shot an unarmed teenaged Vietnamese boy in the back as the boy was running away.
    neither
Not Kerry! The only thing that scammer took was a few deliberately inflicted scratches. Nothing that Kerry got in terms of wounds, even required sick bay or hospital care. His whole scam was to get three purple hearts, because that would get him a ticket back to the world.

If you need a hero to look up to, try McCain or Murtha. These are guys who did it and paid the price. You need to get your facts in order, my friend!
    Kerry betrayed his comrades.

    He was a traitor.

He has never allowed his military records to come out.

He was a phony and a liar, at the same time Kennedy was drowning girls.
Who's the victim here? We democrats who didn't get who we wanted as president, or the entire country being divided based on petty differences?

Stop contributing to the party divide, it's the biggest problem in politics today. If we can't compromise with one another, our country is screwed.

And on another note, it as two years ago, get over it, and start focusing on the election of '08! At least Bush can't win that one.
Kerry is a fraud, a fake, a bum...
    neither
And disappearing for 19 months from a National Guard posting
Thing is, Kerry made up those injuries and/or shot himself in the foot to get the purple heart. Then he came back and betrayed his buddies for political gain. Some guy! My uncle got his purple heart for real--posthumously. Bush is the real hero.
    Kerry, of course.
    ';dont mess with Texas';

    he isnt even from Texas!

Kerry was a coward and took no bullets..

    He invented his own injuries..

This was the entire basis for the VN veterans groups

who actually knew him coming forward during the election

and telling the news the truth about Kerry's lies...

Just how gullible are you ?
Kerry is a liar and a traitor and the guy is just stupid
check into kerrys life threatening injuries in vietnam.......I think a couple of them were friendly fire
I'd rather have a president who screwed one girl than a president who screws everybody all the time. I guess people are willing to look the other way when its THEIR party soliciting young boys.
The swift-boat vets paint a different picture of your ';hero';.
read 'unfit for command.' taking bullets my a ss.....

What are the characteristics of a true hero?

THIS IS AN ANSWER 4 SCHOOL, SO PLEASE GIVE YOUR OPINIONSWhat are the characteristics of a true hero?
    1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

    2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal: He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.

    3. the principal male character in a story, play, film, etc.

    4. Classical Mythology. a. a being of godlike prowess and beneficence who often came to be honored as a divinity.

    b. (in the Homeric period) a warrior-chieftain of special strength, courage, or ability.

    c. (in later antiquity) an immortal being; demigod.

    5. hero sandwich.

    6. the bread or roll used in making a hero sandwich.

From the Greek ἣρως, in mythology and folklore, a hero (male) or heroine (female) usually fulfills the definitions of what is considered good and noble in the originating culture.

Typically the willingness to sacrifice the self for the greater good is seen as the most important defining characteristic of a hero. However, in literature, particularly in tragedy, the hero may also have serious flaws which lead to a downfall, e.g. Hamlet. Such heroes are often called tragic heroes.

Sometimes a person might achieve a high enough status to become courageous in people's minds. This often leads to a rapid growth of myths around the person(s) in question, often attributing him or her with extraordinary powers.

Some social commentators prescribe the need for heroes in times of social upheaval or national self-doubt, seeing a requirement for virtuous role models, especially for the young.[citation needed] Such myth-making may have worked better in the past: current trends may confuse heroes and their hero-worship with the cult of mere celebrity.

.What are the characteristics of a true hero?
The ability to travel back and forth in time like that guy on tv.
*-Someone who stands up for their integrity.

*-Someone who makes a promise and follows through with it.

*-Someone who has a strong moral character, who cannot be swayed by ';the popular opinion'; of the time. - STEADFASTNESS.
Someone who put their needs second helps people then doesn't boast about it!
Thats relative. What can be considered a hero to some may be seen as a villian to others. Regardless to what they do.
The characteristics are in the eyes of the observer. A person doing something in battle is far different than a person saving someone from a burning car. If you ask them, they are not heros, they just did what they felt they had to. It is the observer that makes them heros.
Someone that would risk their life to help another human being. Its the most unselfish act. Example: soldiers, people that give someone else one of their organs even if its dangerous, firefighters, policemen, a mother about to give birth knowing she might die from it, that man that jumped on the guy having a seizure that fell down into the subway tracks(to protect him)- even as his young kids were watching... there are SOOO many!! There are everyday heroes everywhere.
They put themselves at risk to help others, without expecting anything in return.
I am not sure hero's can have certain characteristics. They come with many. I think one thing that all heros have in common is the characteristic of giving selflessly. They act out of the goodness of the what they are doing and not what they are getting out of it. I guess you could call that courage too. It is really a beautiful thing. I think being a hero is not planned either. It something someone or something (many animals have been heros too) just does when something happens to someone. Hope I helped a little bit.
According to mythologies of various groups, heroes have someone become separated from, or do not know their father and at some point in their career have got to visit the underworld or land of the dead.
A true hero is someone who is not afraid to sacrifice themselves for what they believe in.
IF the hero doesnt die for what he believes in, he's a sham.
    Selflessness
    Dead, normally.
    no

What is a true hero, Is this relitive.?Or does charictor make heronism.?

    Nope.

    Good spelling makes a hero.

Hey so i'm just wondering, what do u people think makes a true hero?

yeah i just want/need to know what some other people think what a true hero is...thank u!!Hey so i'm just wondering, what do u people think makes a true hero?
A true hero is not the one that kills another human being, a true hero is the one that takes upon himself the resposibility of helping the weak and the old as well as the child and make sure that they are not starving, providing a roof over thier heads and keep them safe from predetors....and that is what makes a hero a real hero...Hey so i'm just wondering, what do u people think makes a true hero?
its anyone that takes the time and cares enough to save or change someones life, to that person your a hero.
Someone who risk their life to help another in direct danger, knowing that the danger exists, but choosing to help anyway. The act must be without benefit to the person acting

That makes a firefighter who runs into a burning building a hero. It does NOT make an airline pilot a hero, since his own life is on the line, and his act to save the plane is merely self preservation.

It certainly does not make athletes or celebrities heroes in any way whatsoever.
An ordinary person put in an extraordinary situation and manages to come out on top by doing whats right
a true hero is a person that helps anyone in need, cares about their fellow man, someone that is not smart (Jerk) someone that goes above and beyond the normal call.

Maybe someone that would give their life for yours
They are generally defined to some degree by sacrifice
A hero depends on the eyes of the beholder. Some heroic virtues include:

    1.leadership

    2.risk taker

    3.advocate

    4.moral values

    5.tolerant

    6.unselfish

Believe it or not Hitler is a hero in the eyes of Germany in the 1940s because he had all these heroic virtues. he was a strong leader and brave and seen as an unstoppable/bold figure

Jesus, Mohammad, Confucius are heroes even today. Stories have been passed down for generations. There were religious wars because people were willing to die for them. And don't even start by saying police officers and firefighters are heroes, because they are only doing there job.

Heroes you admire may not be a hero I would admire. Like i said, it all depends on what YOU think a hero is.

    My hero is Mohammad Ali

Can you say Joey Chestnut, true American hero?

No matter how the war in Iraq is going, Americans can rejoice that Joey Chestnut stepped up to the plate and became the world's hotdog eating champion, wolfing down 66 hotdogs in 12 minutes. Japan was denied the title and the USA comes out on top again.

Happy 4th of July everyone! USA! USA!Can you say Joey Chestnut, true American hero?

We studied him in english class, and came to the decision that while he has some qualities of a hero, whether or not he's a true hero is is open to interpretation. How is indiana jones a true hero?
He puts aside ';loner'; attitude numerous times to save people that are in danger. Also, he does what he does not for glory, but for his commitment to archeology.
well for 1 he beat the nazis who kidnapped his father and were trying to get the holy grail - my uncle aged in like 30 seconds or something...that was weird to watch!!!

A true hero died on friday, Michael E. DeBakey. Do you know who he was?

A cardiovascular surgeon who invented %26amp; did the 1st cardiac bypass surgery. He invented 1st device used to put patient on bypass. He invented 70 instruments %26amp; procedures for the heart. He made Baylor Hospital into a world class hospital, but then left it over differences, but continued to work in Texas. Houston I think.

He did his last surgery when he was in his 90's!!

    He died at 99 y.o.

Had heart surgery when he was 97.

I remember the news of the 1st bypass!!A true hero died on friday, Michael E. DeBakey. Do you know who he was?
World reknown surgeon for the heart. RIP Dr. Debakey.A true hero died on friday, Michael E. DeBakey. Do you know who he was?
    soldier?
A pioneer in heart surgery? Just a wild guess.

Why isn't Sam from Lord of the Rings made out to be the true hero?

I don't understand, if it weren't for golum or sam he would've kept the ring all to himself. Frodo is known to be the hero, but who is it really? Sam got the ring from Frodo when he was taken by the orcs, and he also helped him all the way throughout the movie to get him to destory the ring. Why isn't Sam from Lord of the Rings made out to be the true hero?
Many people do consider Sam to be the true hero and the main character, based both on his deeds and on the structure of the story. Sam is the only character who is present from almost the very beginning, until the very end.Why isn't Sam from Lord of the Rings made out to be the true hero?
You are correct but their is recognition of this in a scene where Frodo tells Sam how he could not have completed the journey without him and that he is the truly brave one. I cannot remember the exact words spoken between them in the scene.
Sam is pointed out to be the Hero, because in the end Frodo dies(figuratively) and Sam lives on to realize his goals

In a true tragedy, there's a sad ending. Othello murders his beautiful young wife. That's pretty tragic! How far can Othello be described as a tragic hero? in the true Shakesperean meaning ?
The tragic hero in Shakespearean as in Aristotelian tradition is a great man with great character flaws and is responsible, through these, for his own downfall.

Othello's character flaws, are jealousy and the fact that he is easliy duped by Iago.

http://www.peoplesnetwork.go.ukHow far can Othello be described as a tragic hero? in the true Shakesperean meaning ?
The story is certainly tragic but Othello is far less heroic than many of Shakespeare's other heroes. Romeo sacrifices everything to be with the woman he loves. Hamlet avenges his father's death. etc etc. Othello murders his wife. He remains a likeable and strong character though. He is heroic in his personality but not so much in his actions.

How far can Othello be described as a tragic hero? in the true Shakespearean meaning?

The greeks' classification of the tragic hero was of one who begins in a high place (wealth, status, respect, ect.) and, through the course of the play, falls to low place. This hero would also have to possess a tragic flaw that would be the source of his undoing. Shakespeare followed this traditional convention when constructing Othello.

He begins the play as a celebrated war hero and respected general, yet Iago is able twists Othello's blind trust of his comrades, his tragic flaw, into a jealous rage that consumes and destroys his life. How far can Othello be described as a tragic hero? in the true Shakespearean meaning?

Is Heracles a true Greek Hero?

The 1st trait of a hero is to ';Be a demi-god (half mortal, half immortal) or have a god in the family';. Since it is said that Zeus is Heracles protector, does that count? Zeus isnt really a part of Heracles family. Please help me out and Thank you!Is Heracles a true Greek Hero?
Zeus is Heracles' father, so this works. Heracles, along with Theseus, and perhaps Jason, is the archetypal Greek hero.Is Heracles a true Greek Hero?
Zeus was no less than Heracles' FATHER. The story goes that Zeus begot Heracles on Alcmena, the wife of Amphitryon, by assuming Amphitryon's form. Zeus's ever-jealous wife, Hera, actually prolonged Alcmena's labor until a clever servant tricked her into letting the baby be born. He was named Heracles, ';glory of Hera,'; in the hope of placating the goddess, but it didn't work, and she had it in for him all his life.
actually, Zeus is Heracles' father (or so says the myth). Zeus had an affair with the mortal, Alcmene. When Alcmene gave birth, she named the boy Heracles, meaning 'Glory of Hera', to try and get on the goddess's good side. However, Hera was angry that Zeus was having affairs, and she took it out on his other children. Hera made Hercales insane, making him kill his wife and kids, and then gave him the 12 labors to redeem himself. That's how the myth of Heracles got started.
Absolutely. Heracles showed strength to his enemies and loyalty to his family. Both of these qualities make him a true Greek Hero.
What about Theseus (with the minotaur)? He's not descended from a god either and is generally considered a very imporant mythical greek hero.
according to the Disney cartoon, sure
    yes ofcourse....

What's mean of hero and how is the true hero?

Hero seizes the opportunity to be a good cause. You could be your own hero, be a good cause and leave effects in abundance.

However, sometimes people might misinterpret this term and interfere with other people's decision, with good intention, but not really knowing what's truly ';good'; for them. These people are not called heroes, they are nuisance, and could even worsen the situation. What's mean of hero and how is the true hero?
According to me, HERO is that person who is somewhat different from other people in good way.Well, I think that a person who is caring, honest, trustworthy, dedicated to his work %26amp; faithful must be hero. The word HERO is not concerned with face, if it is used for someone who is just beautiful, then I think it loses its real meanings...Qualities are preferred in my mind dictionary than faces...

    Thanks,
