Was this man a true hero?

We were on patrol and got ambushed and our jeep was damaged so we had to go on, I was shot and was in real bad shape while we had enemy closing in on us.


Our CO ordered us to withdraw while he layed down a surpressing fire, he saved my life and alot of others but that was the last I saw of him alive. Do you think this man was what they call a true hero and how can I honnor what he did for me?Was this man a true hero?
Yes he was a hero and you are honouring him every time you tell people about him . Keeping a memory alive is the best way to honour anybody.Was this man a true hero?
What a brave and selfless man, yes, a true hero. He gave his life for others. By the way, thank you too for your service. To honor him, be yourself. Obviously he felt you were worthwhile just as you are. I know you will remember the date, and the place. If he has family, be with them every year at the funeral service. If he doesn't have family, visit his burial site yourself on that date and remember with pride that you served with such an honorable and courageous man.

i definitely think he was a hero. i would write his family a letter and let them know what he did. the best way to honor him is to tell his story, tell people what a hero he was.
