Martin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?

way overdoneMartin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?
I would say he is a hero.Martin Luther King: True Hero or Sacred Cow?
No doubt about it, Martin Luther King was a true hero for everyone, no matter what their race
YOUR REALLY ASKING THIS QUESTION???TRUE HERO DUH!!!!! HOW COULD HE NOT BE????HE STOPPED RACISM YOU DONT THINK THAT CALLS FOR THE TITLE 'TRUE HERO'?????STUPID!!!......
Definitely A True Hero.

He Was African-American, Not Hindu
Hero. He wasn't perfect. He was just a man, but few men have motivated and moved people more than he did.
As true a hero America has.
He was a true hero, but seems to be guided towards sacred cow status.

we have to see the entire man, warts and all
I think even a hard core racist would agree... HERO
Hero
true hero
What kind of question is this?

Martin Luther King was and still is a true American hero.

It's amazing what our definition of ';hero'; has changed to today - just look in the tabloids, and you'll find your answer...

Plain and simple.
He worked for good, but there needs to be more books and stories come out about his behind the scenes life during that time period of his fame... oh wait, can't tell the truth about that or the liberal media and ';african-american'; society will have a coniption fit.
TRUE HERO
I have a personal respect for Dr. King and he would not have regarded himself as a hero at all. Dr. King was not about ego, racial divison or superior rights; he was not about go out and get what you want no matter who you have to kill to do it. Dr. King was about fairness, rights as they relate to every American, healing the divison, and NOT to judge a man by the COLOR of his skin but the content of his CHARACTER. Which is precisely why I will NOT vote for Obama. I am studying his Character and I don't like what I see. As an honorable African-American man, Dr. Martin Luther King would have made a great president. He kept no secrets and proudly showed the nation who he was. He would definitely have had my vote. Now Obama - he is a black-man sell out...the very opposite of what Dr. King believed.
He is a hero.

He helped people who thought they couldn't get out.
i'd say hero, but we still need to work with the strong racism in this country! yes... all those rednecks!!
True hero to me, he saw a wrong and tried to correct without resorting to violence. He had great courage, strong convictions and he showed the world how one man could make a difference.
Hero. He was a great man.
true hero, quite possibly an unknown saint on loan from god. he placed his life on the line for others, he knew he was a target and his life was in danger. you can hear him say it in his speech he knew he would die soon and yet he continued his calling to fight for freedom and equality. think about it , dosen't he remind you of another person in the bible, some one who said '; let my people go'; mosses? taking the slaves out of egypt. king walked and he spoke and he continued to cause change. and whenever you have someone like him, jesus, mosses, the pope you name it doing gods work, there will always be people hating him. because while he is doing gods work there is always the someone out there ready and willing to do the devils work as well.

hero
Both.
true hero.

wtf, he wasn't hindu?
I trueky want to know why you feel he could possibly be a scared crow. I think I know the only people that wouldn't say he was a hero but since you asked the question, I want to see if you're one of them. Just asking :)
He is definitely a hero
MLK became the voice for the conscience of America. That makes him a hero in my book.

He not only helped bring a judicial and political end to legalized oppression of Americans, he also lifted the veil of shame that covered the nation due to those hate-based laws.

People haven't considered that the only reason the term ';African American'; exists is due to the ';whites only'; laws that created the difference between two ethnic groups in America. Blacks just wanted to be ';Americans'; but the laws of the land said otherwise and made the distinction.
MLK was more militant before his death than people like to believe, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. His leadership could have helped civil rights so that we didn't go through all the race riots of the 70s and 80s.
True Hero. He Stood Up Against Racism. How Can He Be A Scared Cow?
TRUE HERO U RETARD!!!
We cannot change the fact that he brought abit huge changes in America and the world. Although we cannot say what it might be like without him, but we can safely conclude that with MLK, universal suffrage was achieved to a large extent. The system still can be improved, but it is definitely way better than the slavery people were subject to because of their skin colour.

Maybe our respect for him can be overdone. But don't we all to many leaders worldwide? Why do we pay so much homage to Lincoln, Socrates, Wilson etc etc. Are they too sacred cows or real leaders with real mistakes BUT real achievements for people?

Even a sacred cow is fervently respected for a real reason. Their contributions in the fields, or their link to a god (depending on which religion).
