Who do you consider to be true heroes?

The term ';hero'; is thrown around indiscriminately these days. Who deserves it and why?Who do you consider to be true heroes?

Firemen, policemen, EMS workers, doctors, nurses, etc.
The word hero is use too often and inappropriately. Heroes are those who put their well being and life on the line to protect us, sometimes from ourselves. They include but are not limited to Police officers, Firefighters, and our brave men and women of the armed forces.
