Had it not been for Judas, Jesus would have never died.
That is if he even existed at all.Christians: Who is the true hero of the New Testament? Jesus or Judas?
there'd always be another 'judas'
only 1 Jesus
EDIT: you've proven my point, thank you Jeff SChristians: Who is the true hero of the New Testament? Jesus or Judas?
*Pontius Pilate
Edit: It was standard for a person that worked for the law to get their 'pieces of silver.' It was how the law worked. Judas is always pictured as some kind of narc or traitor when in fact he was part of the plan. The book of Judas was intentionally left out of the bible and that's when Judas was demonized.
well if you consider it as fiction, Judas would be the antagonist and jesus would be the protagonist. If you considered Jesus to be the antagonist, which wouldn't make alot of sense analitically speaking, than Judas would be the protagonist.
If you look at it from a religious point of view, Judas did as we all did. And had he not killed himself, I am certain that Jesus would have forgiven him regardless. But Judas is still the antagonist, and Jesus is still the protagonist. There just happens to be more than one antagonist in the story. Also you have to take into consideration that jesus was God, so therefore he could have stopped himself at any moment, so who had the control here? But who caused this situation to even come about in the first place?
The true hero is the one who gave His life and rose from the grave.
Jhn 10:17b I lay down My life so that I may take it again.
Jhn 10:18 ';No one has taken it away from Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This commandment I received from My Father.';
EVERY person's knees will bow to Him and EVERY tongue will confess that He is Lord. That means you too.
Phl 2:8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Phl 2:9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
Phl 2:10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
Phl 2:11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Judas was merely one of the players. If Judas never existed, it would have been someone else in his place who did the exact same thing. The hero, obviously, is Christ, who loved you enough to die for your sins, and still loves you, even though you have rejected him.
Jesus..
Also, if you read secular and anti-christian historians they all mention Jesus as a person who did live and was sentenced to crucifixion by Pilot.... so he did in FACT exist... specifically read- Flavius Josephus, Pliny the Younger, and Tacitus.. Celsus also refers to Jesus and Celsus was a pagan philosopher...
You do pose a good point there, but Jesus is clearly the hero, because he is God (holy trinity = father son and spirit). If it had not been for Judas, someone else would have betrayed him. Think about all the people you know. Do you think there is only one person that you know who would betray you?
There is no ';had it not been for Judas'; because God controls everything, and everything happens because HE did it. So it happened exactly the way it was supposed to.
Jesus is the hero. Judas was possessed of the devil.
I would have to say Jesus, because he was the one who died for us not Judas. Judas died because he betrayed Christ and was so ashamed. We all could've done what Judas did, but would you be willing to be crucified for the people who will love you AND hate you!
Lessons about Judas' Salvation
Judas.
A man.
A scoundrel.
Oh how I love Judas. ... or at least my flesh LOVES to think that some people are so evil, that I can judge myself better than them by comparison. Thinking the flattering notion that I am savable, but they are not.
I recently noticed something that challenged my viewpoint about Judas. It is a relief to put to rest the superiority about which my flesh was weighing me down, because the Gospels points to the conclusion that Judas was a sheep.
Before Jesus was betrayed, He prayed this:
Joh 17:12
';While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that the Scripture would be fulfilled.
Two main points.
1. Judas was the son of perdition (which implies destruction).
2. Judas was given to the Lord Jesus by the Father to keep, along with the others.
It is crucial to my point to keep in mind that the Father gave Judas to the Lord to save, because of the next quote from the Lord:
Joh 6:39
';This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day.
John 10:27-29
';My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;
and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.
';My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand.
This leaves us with only two possibilities.
1. That Judas was eventually given grace to come to the Lord and be His sheep, for it is clear that the Father gave Judas to the Lord for this reason.
2. Or Jesus lied when He said that He would not loose a single sheep given to Him by the Father.
Of course there is evidence that Judas did indeed come to full repentance by God's grace after his betrayal of the Lord.
Matthew 27:3-4
Judas, the one who betrayed him, realized that Jesus was doomed. Overcome with remorse, he gave back the thirty silver coins to the high priests,
saying, ';I've sinned. I've betrayed an innocent man.'; They said, ';What do we care? That's your problem!';
Here are the lessons that I glean from all of this:
1. All of us that claim to be saved, should also be aware that at one time we, too, were sons of perdition.
2. We all need grace, revelation and the call of our Shepherd to respond and show remorse for our sins and to come to Him in all humility.
3. Jesus can save even those that seem to be the least likely of it.
4. It does no good to see people as they are at this moment or to evaluate them by what they have already done. Instead, we should evaluate everyone by the potential that God can make of them, even to see that potential as already fulfilled, because it is a cake-walk for God to bring out their full potential.
5. Stay humble. Do not let yourself be flattered with the notion that you picked up on the Gospel, but that others just aren't bright enough to have picked up upon it. Rather, recognize with thanksgiving for all of God's provision and grace, knowing that we never merit it. It was God's choosing, not our own that landed us with this gift of new birth.
6. Keep hope, but not in yourself. If you are concerned for someone's eternal destiny, all you need to know is TRUST. Trust that God loves them and will bring them along according to the will of the Father, and according to His timing. What good has worry ever done for us about such things? Trust and obey is all we need.
Well, I'm sure there are other lessons. These are the ones that come to mind first of all for me. Perhaps, a thought has come into your mind as you read this. If so, please share a comment below.
Judas was in the plan all along, he was part of the prophecy! JESUS is the hero!! He allowed it to happen, because it was part of the plan and the way our salvation would work. JESUS IS OUR REDEEMER AND HERO!!!!!!
Jesus! Judas was a traitor, and he had hanged himself after he realized what he had done. Jesus helped with the sins of the world! Had it not been for Jesus, none of us would be here at all!
jesus was the hero. he was born in order for the fact that he could die for all our sins. the key point that you left out is that he was resurected on the third day. why would judas be a hero?
jesus is d real hero b/c he knew dat judas was chossen 2 betray him he already new dat he was gonna die in the 1st place dats why he chosed to come to d world and die so everyones sin will b cleansed
There are many key factors where Jesus Crusyfixtion could have been avoided, But at the end Jesus was asked if he was the Son of God, and he said it is as you say.
How can you possibly twist Judas into being a hero?
He would sell your soul for a dollar.
He sold Jesus for a few dollars.
not true.....everything and everyone is appointed by God,even if God has to boot someone and place another in their spot
Judas comes a very close second.
He in my view was strong enough to work with Jesus to bring about Jesus' trial and death on a cross.
May God have mercy on Judas
Have you not read...if you believed at all:
How, Yeshua said,';No-one would have the power to do anything if it were NOT for HIS FATHER!
HIS FATHER IS THE HERO!
Of course he existed...the problem people have is whether or not He's the Son of God(which he is).
Plus, if Judas hadn't betrayed him, some one else would have.
According another book, Judas did what Jesus asked him to do.
Jesus..... it was preordained that Judas was to betray Jesus. by God Himself
Gutenberg.
Obvious Troll is the hero
JESUS!
JESUS
JESUS
Jesus is my hero. Your basing your question on assumptions.
I liked your question better when Scorsese asked it in movie form.
Actually I would pick Paul. Jesus first though. Judas just carried out the plan that God had in mind all along.
Why don't ya'll argue over something that actually existed. Like the Grinch or Santa Clause.
