Who is the true hero in The Lord of the Rings?

explain.Who is the true hero in The Lord of the Rings?
Sam.

He is totally faithful to Frodo and his obedience and loyalty to him is unwavering. He is a model friend and was a great character.Who is the true hero in The Lord of the Rings?
I'm going to take another spin on this question.

Let's recast the question as:

';Which character completes the Hero's Journey?';

Answering that question, I propose that all of the hobbits (Frodo, Sam, Merry, and Pippin) complete the Hero's Journey. ^^^Answer^^^

But none of the other characters do.

One of the key tests for the Hero's Journey is that the hero begins ';in the ordinary world.'; I submit that the Shire fills that role in Tolkien's work.

None of the other characters begin in the ordinary world.
There are many heroes, but I think Frodo and Aragorn are the main heroes.

Frodo is the main hero, not just because he destroyed the ring. Frodo left behind his comfortable life to take on a task that was beyond comprehension for hobbits. In doing so, he saved all of Middle Earth, including his home in the Shire. Regardless of the obstacles in his way and facing certain death, Frodo pressed on to see the task through.

Aragorn is a hero because he stepped up to be a leader when everyone needed a leader. His strength and courage played a major role in the battle at Helm's Deep and in the battle of Gondor. Just his willingness to be revealed as the heir of Isildur and the throne of Gondor gave strength and hope to those he met.

You could also make a case for Samwise for sticking by Frodo and helping him to complete his task.
Wow, I don't know that I could say there was one true hero of LOTR. Had any one of the characters responded differently or not been in the battle at all, the quest would have failed, the battles would have been lost. Even smeagol was essential. But if I must chose ONE singular hero, I'd have to say it was Tom Bombadil. Had it not been for Tom, our four intrepid hobbits would never have gotten to Bree much less Rivendell, thus ending the quest at its very beginning.

Fallen Angel, Smeagol was by NO MEANS an innocent victim. He was a murderer and wicked before he ever got the ring. The ring brings out the inner evil within a being, it doesn't implant it.
I have always thought that Aragorn, Frodo, Sam, etc. all played very important parts but I think that the true hero is Gandalf. If not for Gandalf the quest would have surely failed, how many other members of the fellowship do you think could have saved them from the Balrog. Also, without Gandalf, the hobbits never would have met Aragorn and they would have died in Bree.
All of them contribute in their own way. For example, alot of those things wouldn't have turned out well if it weren't for Elrond, or Faramir. But I think the true hero is: Bilbo; He kept the ring safe all by himself for so long. (If he didn't win it from Gollum, Sauron would have gotten it).
hahah i just finished answering this question in the P%26amp;S section.

oh well ill just post the same answer as i did on ur last question

aragorn

without him the people of helms deep would never have gone to gondor to help them. and he was the one who got the people of the dead to fight for him and if it werent for those dead people they would never have defeated those orks at gondor
Well Gollum/Smeagol actually ends up destroying the ring. Not that he means to... if he hadn't taken the Ring, then it might not have been destroyed. soooo in a sense of who completed the quest, Gollum.
Definitely Sam.

If it weren't for him, Frodo would never have gotten the ring to Mount Doom. The others helped immensely too, but if I had to choose just one, I'd say Sam.
uhh legolas because he's so beautiful :]

haha jk um my cousin and i were actually talking about this and we were thinking sam because he helped frodo so much and yeah
Smeagol the innocent victim :D
Gollum
Gandalf...

he gave his life to save everyone.

but i LOVE Legolus!
