Who do you believe is a true hero that has somehow helped modern day America?

I was gonna do an early Roman ruler because our government, currency, military, etc. wouldn't be the same without them but I couldn't find which ruler it was who accomplished these things.

Now I'm thinking about doing someone from World War 2 but honestly, it doesnt matter to me I need some ideas.

This has to be an essay on their heroism, not just like a normal report or biography.Who do you believe is a true hero that has somehow helped modern day America?
For me, personally, it's my parents ... people often overlook the people who should have the most impact on our lives - particularly the people who raised you. Yes, for some folks their parents are far from heroes, but take a good look at most.

Heroes don't always wear capes or bear superpowers. Heroes are ordinary people who do extraordinary things - even in small measures.

Take Martin Luther King Jr. for instance (since we observe him today). He was a great man who did great things for a lot of people. But even in a more private setting, he was doing the world good by being a wonderful parent. He taught his children to be good, decent people, and they continue to carry on his good name even after he's gone.

You can be a hero, too. If not to your own children, then to a niece, nephew, grandchild, a friend.. or be a hero to your own parents.Who do you believe is a true hero that has somehow helped modern day America?
Martin Luthor King Jr.
