Please provide an explaination as to who is the true hero in this novel and why.
Thanks!Who is the true hero in To Kill a Mockingbird?
Atticus Finch
First, because of his personal attributes that are typical of literary heroes:
intelligence- always reading, member of the state legislature; overcoming adversity-discussed in 2 %26amp; 3 below; skill- he seems to everything well, eg expert marksman.
Second, because of his role as a father:
his wife died and he cares for the children alone;
both Scout %26amp; Jim look at him with something close to hero worship; works hard to raise his kids properly.
Third, his role in civil rights(morality): the book is largely about civil rights, and Atticus is the only person working to protect the convicted man; he risks life long friendships and physical harm to himself and his family in order to do what he believes is right.Who is the true hero in To Kill a Mockingbird?
I believe it would Be Atticus. Because he raised Scout and Jem with wonderful values and morals. He also showed the reader strength through the trial, knowing that the community didn't support his views of innocence. He stood and acted upon his beliefs despite controversey.
You, the reader, for having to endure a text that has been overanalyzed to death.
Atticus, because he went against the odds and risked being looked at as an outcast in the society just to save and innocent man.
